New Year self-assessment, to get in alignment with your goals!

Happy New Year...

with the new year comes new thoughts, new emotions, new actions, at least that's what's supposed to happen.

Sometime around the second week in January, the excitement of the holidays and the new year have worn off and you are back to reality.

But what if you don't like the reality you see...

Did you spend the previous year, thinking about getting a new job, starting a new career, or finally turning your really great idea, skill or hobby into a business? But something held you back?

"January is the month employees are most likely to think about changing jobs, with almost one in five (18%) citing this as the most popular month to make a move, according to a survey by Glassdoor."

This year you get to decide what you want. You are the CEO of your life and career.

Fill in the blank

New year, new __________________________.

First you have to be specific about what you want.

What career goals do you want to accomplish this year?

When I ask client's what they want, some hesitantly answer that they want the bare minimum, "I just want to make a little more money" or they are very open, vague and general, "I just want to be happy."

People find it challenging to affirm, their true career and business goals.

You need to say, “I want to make $10,000 a month in my business. I want a new job that pays $150,000.” This is the exact kind of mindset, that moguls like Oprah Winfrey and Richard Branson have, because now you can plan the “how”. They are very specific and intentional about what they want. Which leads me to the next order of business.

Why is it so HARD to say what you really, truly want?

FEAR!?

Fear of failure, fear that you are not good enough, fear you are too young or too old, fear that you are not qualified or ready.

This can lead to feelings of hopelessness, or worse, anxiety and depression.

So, what is really holding you back from your career and business goals?

You have to know, what areas you need to improve in life, what challenges and obstacles you have to overcome . You have to know how each area of your life is impacting your emotions, taking up the “mental space” that you need to be focused, to create, to achieve.

This is why, it is so important to do a self-assessment, you will achieve your goals faster.

A self-assessment gives you a course of study. The assessment guides your goal setting and strategic planning. Seneca Williams, LMHC

If you gave yourself a grade in each area of your life, are you scoring a 4.0 GPA or 1.5?

If you are having a really hard time in your relationship, it is going to impact your career and your business achievement. If you are in poor health physically or mentally, this will impact your career and business. If you are dealing with intense stress, frustration, anxiety, depression or trauma it WILL impact your career and business. Financial problems will impact your performance.

You need to get in emotional alignment. What you say, you want and what you are doing to get it, have to be aligned. Seneca Williams, LMHC

Make a decision to conquer your fear and conquer your calling this year.

Your emotions can become a block, making it difficult to think clearly, to stay focused, to follow through on your goals.

Decide to assess your emotions and how they are impacting your career goals. The sooner you deal with your emotions, your challenges and obstacles the faster you will start achieve your goals.

Who can help me reach my goals faster?

Once you have done an assessment, you will become clear about what areas you need to improve. Achieving certain goals may seem difficult to do on your own. If you become aware that your emotions are deeply impacting your daily functioning, such as anxiety or depression you need to seek therapy. If you find that are having a hard time with your mindset, accountability or goal setting you will need a coach.
